Consider How Your Balustrade Will Be Used Before Selecting a Style
Check out our slides for the considerations for balcony handrail design and planning. Check this one if you are considering building a new home or renovating your balcony. Ever since balconies and decks have been introduced to our houses, they have been causing problems to their owners. In most cases, the whole construction of balconies is rather simple, but the handrail often causes a great deal of trouble. True, there are specific standards that have been developed to regulate handrail types and the steps on how to build a handrail. But sometimes it seems that these regulations may not be enough for ensuring safety.
It's also important to consider how your balustrade will be used before selecting a style.
For example, metal railings are generally considered better for balconies that get a lot of use, as wood and wood-look options tend to show more wear and tear over time. (This shouldn't be a surprise, given the additional weight metal railings are designed to bear.)

There are many dangers associated with railings, therefore, care should be taken to ensure that the railing is safe. For this reason, it should be inspected every few years by a trained professional. Railing management is also crucial to keep lag bolts and other fasteners in good condition.
